1Spatial makes a splash with Thames Water!
20th May 2008, Cambridge, UK. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is using 1Spatial’s Radius Studio to help deliver a key component in Thames Water’s GIS Foundation project.
The objective of the GIS Foundation project is to create and maintain a consolidated, central repository for all geo-referenced asset data, which will allow a single point asset query across all business processes and supporting systems as well as display the spatial representation of the Thames Water network and property assets. Successful completion of this project will enable improvements to risk analysis and hydraulic modelling that are required by the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI). TCS is implementing the project for Thames Water and is using 1Spatial’s Radius Studio product to assist with the data migration.
All Utilities, under the Water Act 1991 and the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) Section 79/80, are required to display a current mapping background. Thames Water needed a solution that would allow them to migrate legacy Land-Line based data, used by a number of discrete GIS applications, into an OS MasterMap® data system.
1Spatial’s Radius Studio product was recognised by TCS as being able to assist with data management challenges, therefore enabling Thames Water to make efficiency gains in their important risk analysis and hydraulic modelling activities.
Radius Studio was selected for its low risk, highly automated, COTS-based solution approach and will meet the requirements of the GIS Foundation project whilst contributing towards improved efficiency of the Thames Water GIS environment in the future.
Stephen Field, Business Development Manager for TCS said:
“We are delighted to be working with 1Spatial on this project for Thames Water. Their Radius Studio product provides an off-the-shelf solution and will make a valuable contribution towards delivering this project on time and on budget.”
Duncan Guthrie, Managing Director for 1Spatial, added:
“1Spatial is proud to have been chosen by TCS to contribute to a project for such a well-known organisation as Thames Water. At a time when service providers are subject to an increasingly competitive market place, we are pleased to assist Thames Water with their GIS Foundation project by providing them with a comprehensive, cost-effective solution.”
