RMIB Geoscience BV Acquired by East View Cartographic
March 26, 2008
For Immediate Release
MINNEAPOLIS, MN - East View Cartographic (EVC) today announced that it has completed the acquisition of all assets of the well-known Dutch mapseller RMIB Geosciences BV. The move strengthens EVC’s commitment to serving its growing European clientele through its own Dutch office, East View Information Services BV, based in Arnhem, The Netherlands.
According to Kent Lee, CEO of East View Cartographic, “Like EVC, RMIB Geosciences was a global distributor of scientific maps and related publications, specializing in the difficult-to-acquire cartographic publications of Asia, Africa and Latin America. During its impressive history, RMIB Geosciences (earlier Rudolf Muller International Booksellers) was the first company to bring to market topographic maps of Indonesia, East Timor, Rwanda, and other exotic locations. RMIB reliably served hundreds of libraries and organizations in Europe and beyond, and EVC looks forward to continuing this service tradition with an even wider range of print and digital maps from countries all over the world.”
With the RMIB Geosciences acquisition, EVC has taken possession of a large number of rare and valuable maps and atlases, and in the coming weeks these materials will be described and made available by EVC. Many of these items are now virtually impossible to obtain because they were produced in low press runs and come from some of the world’s most closed and isolated countries. As they are catalogued these publications will be added to the GIS-based EVC Store which can be used to search and browse EVC products at www.cartographic.com.
