Organized by the Cartography and Geographic Information Society
CaGIS is pleased to announce AutoCarto 2008, an international research symposium on computer-based cartography. The seventeenth in the AutoCarto series, the symposium will be held at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service National Conservation Training Center in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, USA–only an hour from Washington D.C.’s Dulles International Airport (see: http://training.fws.gov). Join us in September 2008 at this exciting conference to explore new research and innovation in cartography and geographic information science.
CaGIS invites cartographers, geographers, geospatial analysts, GIScientists, and others conducting research on the cutting edge of the geospatial sciences to submit paper abstracts and posters on a variety of topics, as well as websites demonstrating an innovative cartographic application or method.
The conference will meet September 8-10. Workshops and trips will be given on September 10 and 11.
Three exciting keynotes are planned: by Mike Dobson, Mike Peterson and Jason Dykes. We are also
planning field trips to NPS at Harpers Ferry, National Geographic Society, the Smithsonian and the Library of Congress. There will be a selection of half day workshops of interest to all on current themes in the mapping sciences.
Paper abstracts are due by e-mail to autocarto2008@geog.ucsb.edu by the end of the day on May 1, 2008. Poster abstracts are due by June 1, 2008, as an e-mail to autocarto2008@geog.ucsb.edu. Abstracts for websites are due September 1, 2008 by e-mail to autocarto2008@geog.ucsb.edu. See Call for Papers for more information.
