Cadcorp announces support for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Spatial enhancements

GIS adds support for the latest spatially-enabled database

Stevenage, UK. 13 November, 2007. – Digital mapping and geographic information systems (GIS) software developer Cadcorp announced that support for the spatial enhancements of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 will be available in Cadcorp SIS – Spatial Information System Version 7.0, due for release early in 2008.

“Spatially-enabled databases are becoming increasingly widespread and are no longer the preserve of large, enterprise, geo-spatial data stores. This change has been particularly marked in the UK with the now widespread adoption of Ordnance Survey MasterMap™ and the increased storage and management requirements that this has brought”, stated Martin Daly, technical director, Cadcorp. “Cadcorp SIS will help provide users of SQL Server 2008 spatial technologies with enhanced functionality and significant value”, he added.

“We rely on our partner community to provide solutions based on the spatial enhancements in SQL Server 2008,” said Kim Saunders, senior director of SQL Server marketing at Microsoft Corp. “Combining  SQL Server 2008 spatial technology with the capabilities of the Cadcorp SIS client allows Cadcorp to offer an  alternative to spatial databases that are already on the market.”
