Please join us for the 10th Annual Society for Conservation GIS (SCGIS) Conference, June 25-28, 2007, in Monterey, California. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the conservation of natural and cultural resources through geospatial technologies.
The SCGIS Conference immediately follows the ESRI User Conference.
Call for Presentations
Participants are requested to submit presentation topics now. Consistent with the ongoing conference theme, Creating and Fostering Community, we ask that your presentation include a section (not the focus, just a section) on the community-building efforts of your conservation activities, with emphasis on the efforts of government agencies, academics, nonprofits, activists, and commercial groups to work together. Discuss benefits and challenges of forging partnerships with local and international communities and describe the pros and cons of your networking endeavors. Please share how you “broke down barriers” and how those efforts benefited your project.
Abstracts are due May 18, 2007.
If you have any questions or comments, please e-mail scgispapers@esri.com.
SCGIS Activities
Auction
SCGIS will conduct a silent and live auction during the conference to share treasures and artwork from around the globe. Please plan to donate an item from your culture, community, or country and come to the conference prepared to bid on some wonderful and exotic trinkets.
Map Gallery
Plan to submit a map or poster for the SCGIS Conference Map Gallery. The Map Gallery enables you to display your GIS accomplishments in conservation. The submission deadline is June 1, 2007.
More Information
Agenda details will be posted and updated as the conference approaches. Information on the field trip (Monterey Bay Aquarium, June 25) and training classes will also be posted soon. If you have questions, please contact us.
