City Geospatial Conference Issues Call for Presentations
Invitation Calls Upon Public, Private Technologists to Discuss Broad List of Topics Related to GIS, Mapping, Remote Sensing Technology
Huntsville AL – Directions Media, organizers of the inaugural Rocket City Geospatial Conference, October 15-17, 2007 at the Huntsville Marriott, is issuing a call for presentations from interested technologists in the southeastern region. The event will focus on geographic information systems (GIS), mapping, mobile location-based services (LBS), Internet mapping, satellite imaging and remote sensing. Presenters are invited to submit an abstract of their work on topics from utility infrastructure management, missile defense, urban planning, homeland security, meteorology, tax mapping, economic development and many other applications.
“The southeast is a rapidly growing area of the U.S. and GIS is an exceptional tool to support the demands placed upon local and state government to manage their infrastructure and support homeland security efforts,” said
Joe Francica, Directions Media’s vice publisher and the conference chairman. “In addition, the conference will provide a forum for professionals in the private sector to become better informed about geospatial technology, which is becoming more mainstream everyday.” The Rocket City Geospatial Conference is part of Directions Media’s conference programming, and expects to draw 300 or more professionals. The agenda is currently online at the conference website and a keynote speaker will be announced shortly. Registration for the event will open in May.
